Monday Me

It's Monday, the longest day of the week for me! So to have a little fun, and shake off the Monday blahs, I'm going to tell you about the time the bird pooped on me. On my wedding day.

I  married my wonderful husband, Jeremy, about six years ago. After the ceremony, we went outside to take a ton of pictures--so many pictures that my cheeks hurt from smiling. Everyone was getting hungry and hot (this was Sept in AZ, so still really, really hot outside) so the photographer wanted to get a big family/extended family portrait before everyone left for lunch.

He arranged all 40+ of us under this huge tree on the lawn, with me and my husband right in the middle. Just as he was getting ready to take the picture a bird in the branches above me pooped. It splattered all down the front of my beautiful white wedding dress. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. In the end, it wound up being a combination of an 'are you friggin kidding me' laugh and a 'not my dress' cry.

After my mom and I had cleaned up my dress in the bathroom the best we could, I went back out to the lawn to see my husband and all five of his groomsmen, in their really nice tuxes, throwing rocks at the tree. The sight of all of these guys trying to take out the bird is still one of my favorite wedding day memories (not that I'm all for revenge, but come on, out of 40 people, the stupid bird pooped on the bride!)

My grandmother later told me that having a bird poop on you is good luck. My marriage has been great so far, so I guess she's right. I just wish that the bird could have dropped a rose in my hair or something more Disney-esque.

Here's something else to help out with the Monday Blahs....
Congratulations to Chris (commented on Jolene's blog) for winning the copy of Meg's Melody from the blog tour. I used Random.org to generate the winner. Thank you everyone for participating. That turned out to be pretty fun. I think I'm going to have to do more contests in the future. :)

  1. This is both horrible and funny, Kaylee. I hope you were able to get the poop out of the dress in time for the reception!

  2. That is an awesome story. I like it how your new husband wanted to get the bird for pooping on his bride ... that's romantic. :)

  3. Kaylee! What a great story!
My husband ALMOST didn't have a wedding ring on the day we got married. It had been sized two sizes too small and the best man picked it up on his way and everything started almost an hour late because of it. Fortunately, my wedding dress is still intact... for another year until my daughter turns 8 and I hack it to pieces for her baptism dress...
