I am in the process of editing my second book right now, tentatively titled IF I FALL. I think I'm just a little obsessed with editing and finishing this thing! I have read it through several times, had my beta readers read it, then sent it out to some of my writing friends to critique it for me, and now my husband it reading it/proofing it for me. He is the king of finding missing words and awkward sentences (I am the queen of skipping words when I type!).
So last night I start dreaming about people giving me feedback on my book. I woke up feeling exhausted! It's probably just time to send it in. Sometimes it's really hard to send a book into a publisher, though. With Meg's Melody, I finished it, and it took almost three months to work up the nerve to send it out. There were many times that I almost didn't (and my mom would pep talk me into sending it it, which is part of the reason why she gets a whole paragraph in the acknowledgments section of my book. My mom rocks!) I think I'm going through the same thing here. I'm totally dragging my heels over writing a synopsis for IF I FALL. But I've made a deadline for myself. I WILL start sending it out the last week of February no matter what (earlier, if I can talk myself into it.) The last week of February is the ANWA conference (check out the widget for more info), so it's a good deadline for me.
Here's to crossing fingers that I'll stop being such a wimp!
